Yoga instructor Bette Calman may be 83, but she's still bending overbackwards to spread the benefits of the ancient Indian discipline. The nimble grandmother can really pull some shapes and with her set hair and pearl earrings she looks as glamorous as Greta Garbo in a pink jumpsuit. With 40 years of teaching under her belt, the Australian wonder is living proof that a lifetime's dedication to yoga will keep you flexible as a rubber band.

Meet Rajo Devi Lohan, the Indian woman who, in November 2008, gave birth to her first child - at the age of 70. She said she had waited for more than 40 years for this child and that she plans to breastfeed her for at least three years. And, who knows, maybe she will. 


World's Oldest Conjoined Twins (57-year-old)





When Maureen Galyon gave birth in 1951, she had no idea she was expecting two babies – let alone conjoined twins. The tots, joined at the torso, were not expected to survive the night as baffled doctors tried to work out if they could be separated. Now, at 57, Ronnie and Donnie are the world's oldestconjoined twins and have amazed the medic world by hanging onto life for so long. And, as their health declines and they near their dying days, the pair have opened their doors to a documentary team to reveal the secrets of their extraordinary life together. Although every day is a struggle as the men have to coordinate the simplest of tasks, they have a close, loving relationship and are able to live together in their own home in Dayton, Ohio. 
World's Oldest Father (90-year-old)



The world's oldest father has done it again recently, fathering a child for at least the 21st time, at the age of 90. Indian farmer Nanu Ram Jogi, who is married to his fourth wife, boasts he does not want to stop, and plans to continue producing children until he is 100. Mr Jogi admits he is not certain how many children his series of four wives have borne him - but counts at least 12 sons and nine daughters and 20 grandchildren. 



World's Oldest Cat (29-year-old)

Until he passed away at the ripe old age of 31 in July 2001, the world's oldest cat was chasing spiders without the equivalent of a feline walking cane. Spike, a British ginger and white tom, had been certified as the world's oldest living cat by the Guinness Book of Records in 1999, when the sprightly kitty was just 29.

Measured in human years, Spike was an amazing 140 years old, though many veterinarians dispute the validity of such human/cat comparisons. (Perhaps it's just jealousy; Spike retained all his original teeth and hair!) Either way, Spike beat the odds – domestic longhairs have a life span of about 15 years. His owner, Mo Elkington, an aromatherapist from Dorset, England, purchased Spike in 1970. She fed him a steady diet of fish and cat food, with a little aloe vera mixed in to protect him against arthritis and rheumatism.

 World's Oldest Model (80-year-old)

In an age obsessed with youth and beauty, Daphne Selfe is a welcome reminder that the two are not inextricably linked. The grandmother is in the 60th year of an extraordinary modelling career thanks to her graceful posture, striking cheekbones and her long, lustrous – and unashamedly grey – hair. At the age of 80, she is Britain's oldest catwalk model, gracing runways for Dolce & Gabbana, Tata-Naka and Michiko Koshino. 


 World's Oldest Bottle of Champagne (184-year-old)

One tasted white truffles, another gingerbread. But the esteemed wine critics that gathered to taste the world's oldest Champagne were at least agreed on one thing: that they were enjoying the opportunity of a lifetime. 12 of the wine industry's top tasters had been given the rare chance to give their verdict on the world's oldest bottle of Champagne. Only two bottles now remain of the Perrier-Jouet 1825 Vintage, recognised by The Guinness Book of Records as the oldest remaining Champagne in the world. (Link)


 World's Oldest Brand (124-year-old)

Lyle's Golden Syrup has been named as Britain's oldest brand, with its green and gold packaging having remained almost unchanged since 1885. The Guinness Book of Records gave the breakfast and teatime sweetener, whose tins bear the image of a lion and a biblical quotation, the prized honour.


NOTE: Our reader, Spike, pointed out that the oldest brand is actually Brass Beer. Bass is the name of a former brewery and the brand name for several English beers brewed in Burton upon Trent. Bass is most particularly associated with their pale ale. The distinctive Red Triangle logo for Bass Pale Ale was Britain's first registered trademark.  World's Oldest Working Microwave (40-year-old)

They are part and parcel of most kitchens now. But in the Swinging Sixties, microwave ovens were cutting-edge technology. Frederick Stephens was among the first in Britain to buy one and 150,000 meals later, it is still going strong. The 78-year-old believes it is the country's oldest still in everyday use. He paid $300 – equivalent to more than $3,900 in today's money – for the brown Panasonic NE-691 and has used it every day in the four decades since. 

 World's Oldest Joke (3900-year-old)

You might think your dad's joke about what you call blood-sucking referrees ("vumpires" haha) is old, but that's nothing. A team of academics from the University of Wolverhampton have discovered the world's most ancient gag. Guess what it's about? Yep. Farts.


"Something which has never occurred since time immemorial; a young woman did not fart in her husband's lap," goes the joke, which apparently dates back to ancient Sumeria circa 1900 BC. 


 World's Oldest Flute (35,000-year-old)

The discovery, according to archaeologists, offers new evidence that early modern humans in Europe had established a complex and creative culture. A team led by University of Tuebingen archaeologist Nicholas Conard assembled the flute from 12 pieces of griffon vulture bone scattered in a small plot of the Hohle Fels cave in southern Germany. Together, the pieces comprise a 8.6-inch instrument with five holes and a notched end. Conard said the flute was 35,000 years old. (Link)


 World's Oldest Sculpture (35,000-year-old)

Scientists have discovered the oldest piece of sculpture ever created – and it depicts a voluptuous ‘pin-up' woman. The 35,000-year-old carving shows a woman with enormous breasts and other sexual characteristics like an enlarged stomach and large thighs. The six-centimetre carved mammoth tusk, which is thought to have been a symbol of fertility for early man, is known as ‘Venus' and was discovered in several fragments which were then pieced together. Radiocarbon dating showed that the figurine, which was found in a German cave, is at least 35,000 years old, predating later similar finds by 5,000 years or more. The fragments were recovered along with stone, bone and ivory tools used by the first Home Sapien populations to settle in Europe. (Link)

1. World's Largest Serving Of Fried Chicken

Kentucky Fried Chicken, a unit of Yum! Brands, Inc. served 2,493.35 lbs. of fried chicken to the citizens of Louisville – setting the new world record for the Largest serving of fried chicken during the celebration of KFC's 70th anniversary of its Original Recipe of 11 herbs and spices. 


2. World's Largest Breasts

Norma Stitz, real name Annie Hawkins -Turner, was born in Atlanta, Georgia. She attended Jackson State University and got a BSW (Bachelor of Social Work). Norma began sending in pictures to publications in the early1990's and there were finally published in 1994. Treated mainly as a curiousity, the magazines soon learned that there are many men out there that really do love big breasts like this and she began appearing in more mags. By 1997 she was also making her own movies as well.

In 1999, the Guinness World Records declared Norma as having the BiggestNatural Breasts in the world and also the owner of the largest bra. Her measurements at the time were 70-48-52". Her bra size was 48V. Each breast weighed 28 pounds and she weighed 270. Since then her breasts have grown up to 72ZZZ and she tops the scale at 345 pounds. 

3. World's Largest Chocolate Bar


It is a chocolate lover's dream. Armenian company Grand Candy unveiled the world's largest ever -chocolate bar — a 10-inch-thick slab weighing in at 9,720 pounds and measuring 18.4 feet by 9-feet. In a televised ceremony, representatives of Guinness World Records measured the dark-chocolate bar and handed a document to company managers certifying it as the new record-holder. 

4. World's Largest Arthropod

                                         

Hail Crabzilla! The Japanese Spider Crab is the biggest arthropod on Earth--their legs are believed to grow up to 12 feet long. But since they live at such great depths (typically 1,000 feet down or so) a full grown spider crab has yet to be caught. So for now, we'll have to make due with the 5 foot long Crabzilla (that's what it's called--I didn't make it up!), one of the largest known crabs in the planet. 


4. World's Largest Hand

24-year-old macrodactyly patient Liu Hua, from Jiangsu, China, was recognized in 2007 as the man with the world's largest hand. He was born with a left thumb, index and middle finger much larger than normal, which grew dramatically together with his arm as he grew older and has had a serious impact on his work and day-to-day life. 

When Liu was hospitalized in Shanghai in July 2007, his left thumb measured 26 centimeters, his index finger was 30cm and his middle finger 15cm. The overall weight of his left arm was about 10 kilograms. Surgeons ended up making a seven-hour operation to reduce the size of Liu's fingers and thumb, removing 5.1kg of flesh and bone in the procedure.

5. World's Largest iPod

This 25 ft. iPod is attached to the side of the Unizan Bank building across from the State house at Third St in Columbus, Ohio. Not only does it look like an iPod, but it actually plays music. The gadget was created for Columbus Alive, a weekly entertainment magazine and website serving central Ohio with fresh, fun coverage of the music, arts, food and nightlife that makes Columbus, Ohio, tick! We chose some of our favorite local musicians that had submitted songs to the online jukebox and we added them to the iPod playlist, Columbus Alive report. 


6. World's Largest Human Rainbow


On September 18, 2004, over 31,000 students, faculty, staff and alumni of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines broke the record previously held by the Maltese. They used the human rainbow to celebrate theuniversity's centennial, which was from 1904 to 2004, and to highlight the signing of the Declaration of Peace which will be submitted to the United Nations.

This beat the previous effort of 2003, when 11,750 individuals assembled in Floriana, Malta, to break the record. 

7. World's Largest Goldfish


It might look like an enormously generous fairground prize. But no goldfish bowl in the world could contain this catch. The orange koi carp weighs 30lb – the same as an average three-year-old girl – and is thought to be one of the largest of its kind ever captured. 

8. World's Largest Mosaic


Two brothers revealed a painstaking reconstruction of Britain's largest Roman mosaic that took them ten years to complete. Bob and John Woodward used 1.6million tiny pieces to produce their copy of the Orpheus pavement. Now the 47ft square pavement is being auctioned and it is expected to fetch £25,000. The mosaic depicts the ancient Greek music master Orpheus and lyre resting on his left knee, his hunting dog alongside him and a myriad of beasts all around him. The work is on display at Prinknash Abbey, near Stroud, but the lease has come to an end and its owner - who does not wish to be identified - has decided to sell. Iona Sale, who is publicizing the event for auctioneers Chorley's, said it had been challenging putting an estimated sale price on the mosaic - because no-one had ever attempted such a feat before. 

9. World's Largest Sand Carpet

When one thinks of sand art, sand castles are what often comes to mind, but Tibetan Buddhist monks have long designed magnificent mandalas out of colored sand, for which Iranian artists have put a new spin to — famous for their traditional Persian rugs, a group of artists have taken it to a whole new level by creating the world's largest sand carpet. The unique 39,370.078 square foot (12,000 sq. meter) world record carpet was created by 25 visual artists made entirely of 70 types of colorful sand found on the country'ssouthern island seashores of Hormuz, widely known for its red soil, to create the ‘Persian Gulf' sand carpet.

--- Cathie Jung: World's Smallest Waist --15 inches

Honestly, no Photoshop. Cathie Jung’s tiny waist measures just 15in (38cm), making her figure distinctly hourglass. The Queen of Corsets, as she has aptly named herself, has worn tight-fitting corsets for years to get there, and appears in the body parts section of the Guinness Book of World Records 2007. Whilst she currently holds the record for the smallest waist on a living person, the record for the smallest waist ever goes to Ethel Granger who had a wasit of just 13". 

--- Svetlana Pankratova: World's Longest Legs --more than 4 feet long

Russian woman Svetlana Pankratova has, according to Guinness World Records, the longest legs of any woman in the world. While she is not the world's tallest woman, her legs are 132 centimetres (4 ft 4 in) long. Because her upper body is of much more typical dimensions, she is 196 centimetres (6 ft 5 in) tall. She has also very large feet, size 13 (US) / 46 (EU), making shopping for shoes difficult. From 1992 to 1995, Pankratova played women's basketball in the USA, and on 2008 she appeared in Trafalgar Square in London on September 16, 2008 with He Pingping, the smallest man in the world, to promote the 2009 edition of the Guinness World Records.

With the longest hair in her beard measuring 11 inches - 27.9 cm., Vivian Wheeler of Illinois is blessed with having the longest beard for a female. Her father insisted she start shaving at the age of 7, but since 1993 Vivian Wheeler has not, letting her beard grow. 

--- Lui Hua: World's Largest Hand --his left thumb is 10.2 inches long

Chinese man Lui Hua suffers from a rare condition known as macrodactyly. When he was hospitalized in Shanghai on July 2007, his left thumb measured 10.2 inches and his index finger measured close to 12. On July 20 surgeons undertook a seven-hour operation to reduce the size of Liu's fingers and thumb. Doctors removed 11 pounds of flesh and bone in the procedure. A second surgery is scheduled to take place. 

--- Annika Irmler: World's Longest Female Tongue --2.7 inches

                                      

German schoolgirl Annika Irmler has licked her way into the Guinness Book of Records with her whopping seven centimetre tongue. The twelve-year-old from Tangstedt, near Hamburg, can lick the ice cream from the bottom of a cornet - while her friends have to use their fingers. 

--- Lee Redmond: World's Longest Fingernails --until she lost them n a car crash

Lee Redmond, a woman from Utah who has not cut her nails since 1979, had grown and carefully manicured them to reach a total length of 8.65 m (28 ft 4.5 in), and was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's longest fingernails. Sadly, on February, 2009, she lost them in a car crash. 

--= Radhakant Baijpai: World's Longest Ear Hair --almost than 10 inches long

Indian grocer Radhakant Baijpai certainly has a goal in life: make sure that he has the longest ear hair in the world. Radhakant was crowned the official Guinness world record holder for the longest ear hair back in 2003, when his aural fronds were an already-impressive 13.2cm long. But that didn't stop him pursuing his goal of ever-longer hair on his ears. After several more years of carefully cultivating and caring for the ear-hair, Radhakant's tufts now stretch an astonishing 25cm. He is now waiting for Guinness adjudicators to confirm that he has set a new high, hairy bar for his chosen field. 

--- Mehmet Ozyurek: World's Longest Nose --4.5 inches

Mehmet Ozyurek, born in Turkey in 1949, has been confirmed as having the world's longest nose. His nose measured 4.5 inches (8.8 cm) when it was last measured on July 06, 2007. He currently lives in Artvin, Turkey.

Frank Ames of Saranac in New York earned his place in the Guinness Book of World Records with a pair of bushy brows measuring 9.6cm. He decided to go for the title on 2003, only to discover it didn't exist. After calling officials, he set up and claimed the hairy new record. The road connection from the mainland Romsdal peninsula to the island of Averøya in Møre og Romsdal county doesn't look as if it actually connectsas you drive towards it. In fact it looks very much as if you are in for an icy bath as you plummet off its 73ft height. However, you will be relieved to hear that this is simply something of an optical illusion. The bridge is built in such a way that from a certain angle, as you approach, it looks as it is more diving board than bridge.
